Pictures: Halloween, Waikiki Hawaii

One of many longtime traditions where locals and tourists mix in good natured "small kine nutz" fun. It is truly a special event generated by Hawaii's youth and overseen by adults and kupuna. Participants do nothing more than walk Kalakaua Avenue to talk, laugh, take pictures and view the creativity of friends and others.

Residents embrace the excitement, color and energy of this theatrical non-commercial event. An opportunity for ordinary people to be the center of attention and embrace individual liberty. The memories that kamaaina and malihini share this Waikiki night will be remembered in later years and embraced as memories of freedom and Americana.

These participants are Hawaii's next generation. As future leaders they will reminisce about local nights like these and remember that Honolulu symbolizes many things; including what the youth of America strive to be, fun, safe, responsible and alive.
