This page has examples of my previous and current work experience for the past 25 years. From the University of Hawaii; Manoa where I graduated in Journalism to today. Working to make Hawaii's sense of place and community service part of my job because those are qualities I look for in local people.

Government Experience

My Hawaii state and city government work experience includes being a State Representative, Senior Aide to Council Budget Chair Ann Kobayashi; Honolulu City Council, legislative aide to Vice Speaker Rep. K. Mark Takai, Information Specialist with the Department of Land and Natural Resources, and as an Executive Secretary for a city commission.

Community Experience

My commuity work includes being an eight year member of the Waikiki Neighborhood and former president of our neighborhood's Resident Association, Citizens Patrol volunteer and community clean up volunteer.

I also have experience under the Democratic National Committee and have been a voice for Hawaii's working families serving as the Communications Director for Hawaii's Democratic Party. My most recent campaign experience includes being a Senior Assistant to Dr. Duke Bainum M.D. former Waikiki State Representative and Waikiki- Ala Moana area City Councilmember.

1998

Non-profit, Charitable Experience

I was the Director of Development and Community Relations for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Hawaii. My responsibilities included community development, fundraising, grants management and public outreach. I also was a grant writer for other Hawaii non-profits.

I have lead several community projects that include recycling, clean-up and coordinating community issues meetings.

1991

Broadcaster, Talk Show Host, News Reporter

During and after college I worked as a broadcaster. Radio is my favorite media. It all began in 1987 as a broadcaster at KGU AM 76 in the Waikiki Trade Center studios at Kuhio St. & Seaside Ave. Former city Managing Director Jeff Coehlo was General Manager.

I also was a talk show host on Honolulu's K-108 and KPOI - 98 Rock, both on Bishop Street at the time.

In the early 1990's I was working mornings in the KSSK news center, and as a broadcaster and promotions staffer. Every morning at the Kalihi office I saw Larry Price, Michael Perry, Linda Coble, (Kirk Mathews by phone), Barron, Scott Mackenzie, Bill Carpenter, Sweetie and many other great local radio personalities. Later I worked with another radio icon, Brickwood Galuteria.

One of many memorable moments was getting Hillary Clinton to sign a pog as she visited nearby Watanbe Florist. It was for one of Linda's many charity events.
